Prime General Contractors President Derek Clarkin has been Appointed to the Dunwoody College of Technology Board of Trustees.
Since 1914, Dunwoody has been a place where the curious and the confident have learned by doing.
Like so many others, Dunwoody has had a significant impact on Derek's postsecondary education. Twice he left college programs at other schools before finding a home at Dunwoody.
In 2005 he earned an A.A.S. degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating. He then earned his Business degree from St. Mary's University.
Prior to attending Dunwoody, Derek experienced hands-on construction work during college including demolition, concrete, masonry, finish carpentry, gyp-crete, and pole barn framing.
"It's an honor to be appointed to the Board of Trustees of Dunwoody," Derek said during a recent interview. “Dunwoody provides a hands-on approach, which helped me better understand the curriculum. I am thankful for the education that I received at Dunwoody and owe a lot to the college. I look forward to serving on the Board of Trustees."
Derek has served on the Dunwoody Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2016. He recently finished a two year term as the AAB Board President. He's leveraged the extensive Dunwoody alumni network in the construction industry and beyond. Derek now co-owns and operates Prime General Contractors, a commercial general contractor based in Eagan, Minnesota.
